As HBO Max’s latest application is quite heavy, there are chances that you do not have enough storage left on your Samsung TV to install it. So, you need to free up some space/ uninstall few applications for this.
To do this, you need to locate the APPS section or Smart Hub on your device, and then select the Options icon on top of the screen. Select the apps you want to uninstall to free up some space(preinstalled applications cannot be removed).
After this, when you have enough space, try installing the HBO Max again.
Update Samsung TV System Software
This can be really helpful, as HBO Max’s latest version will be compatible with the latest firmware of your Samsung TV. So, you must update it. This can be done in two ways, either you can download the latest firmware file and save it on your USB drive and then use it to update or you can directly update via the internet on the latest smart TVs.
To download and save the file on your USB drive, visit the Support page> select your model> manual and downloads section.
Now, download the Upgrade File(USB type) on your PC and extract the downloaded .zip file, then save it on the USB drive(path should be: USB ROOT > T-KTSUABC (Firmware Name) > IMAGE > upgrade.msd)
Unzip the file on the USB drive.
Connect the USB drive with your TV, open setting and follow the menu path as below:
- 2020 Models – Settings > Support > Software Update > Update Now
- 2019 Models – Settings > Support > Software Update > Update Now
- 2018 Models – Settings > Support > Software Update > Update Now
- 2017 Models – Settings > Support > Software Update > Update Now
Now, allow USB drive for firmware update and that’s it.
Cold Starting
If HBO Max won’t install on Samsung TV with any of the above-mentioned steps, try completing a cold start.
To do this, press the power button on your remote control and hold it down for 10 seconds. Once the 10 seconds have passed, your TV will reboot itself and turn off, then back on its own, allowing you to install the app.

You can also try this method earlier, there is no fixed-step. Simply uninstall HBO Max from your device and download it again and try reinstalling it.
This method is mentioned here in the last, as it suits the level of other issues one may face in this case. You can use any step at any level if it suits you and works for you.
After this, reset your Smart Hub too, and try installing HBO Max again.
